At the beginning of time, everything was Night.
Then Night laid a silver egg,
and from that egg, Eros was born.

EROS is a solo dance piece conceived and performed by Matteo Carvone, freely inspired by the mythical figure of the same name.
While playing with the familiar iconography of the winged cherub or the erotic male figure, Eros emerges here as a far more primordial and unsettling force — an immense creative energy capable of both disruption and creation.
He embodies the raw impulse from which all life springs, vibrating between desire and destruction, seduction and rupture.
In ancient cosmology, Eros rises from absolute darkness, bringing light and visibility to the cosmos.
He holds the power to influence the will and desire of both mortal and divine beings, acting through their hearts and senses.
His presence is ambivalent: mutual love and unrequited love, pure pleasure and searing pain — a force as sought after as it is feared.

About Matteo Carvone
Matteo Carvone is a choreographer and dancer whose work fuses physicality, scenography, and technology to create powerful, immersive experiences. Born in Trieste, Italy, and based in Munich since 2012, he explores archetypal figures, human fragility, and the tension between structure and chaos. His multidisciplinary approach challenges perception and draws audiences into layered, atmospheric worlds.
His creations unfold in a dynamic dialogue between body, space, and sound, merging movement, theatricality, and visual research. He has presented his work at renowned venues such as the Venice Biennale (FAUN, 2020; The Garden, 2023), the Munich Philharmonic Gasteig (Faust Symphony, 2018), Carl Orff Saal – Gasteig (The Hover, 2020), Halle E – HP8 (FLORA, 2023), and the Bosel Matinee at the Bayerische Staatsoper (2023), blending baroque imagination, sonic experimentation, and reflections on human nature.

As a performer, Matteo has collaborated with companies including La Compagnia at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, the ballet ensemble of the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, Jo Strømgren Kompani in Oslo, and Alexander Ekman’s KUCKEL across Sweden.
