ICARUS

And when the human body is gone, who will dance then?

Perhaps only an echo remains: a gesture, a vibration, a memory still pulsing—suspended between what we were and what is yet to come.

Inspired by the myth of Icarus, the work unfolds as a collective artistic exchange between choreographer Matteo Carvone, artist and composer Camilla Metelka, and dancer Cristian Cucco. Rather than retelling the myth, ICARUS begins with its underlying necessity: the need to escape. Flight emerges from confinement, from a past that cannot be undone, and from the desire to inhabit a fleeting possibility of freedom.

Sound, choreography, and a single light source become the essential materials of the work, intertwining to form a space where memory and transformation, risk and ecstasy continuously take shape. At its core lies the crossing of a threshold — a moment of risk and exposure that may also hold a fragile possibility of hope.

The Lost Tape is the original composition created for ICARUS by artist and composer Camilla Metelka. Conceived as an immersive eight-channel sound installation, it transforms the surrounding air into a tangible architectural space. Acting as an invisible material rather than simply accompanying the choreography, it shapes the environment through which body and light move.
