MOZART20
A game of layers
piece for 5 dancers and a live camera
the Music:
The Piano Concerto n.20 has been written and played by W.A.Mozart himself in Vienna in 1785.
Clearly structured to impress his father/teacher, this concerto is particularly dynamic and rich of memories.
Following the concerto shape, the choreography is also developed in 3 movements.
Allegro - Romance - Rondò
the Layers:
(from the audience point of view)
first layer: the orchestra
second layer: the piano
third layer: the dancers
The choreographic action takes place behind a gauze curtain on a higher stage; in this "room" the dancers has been asked to perform always profile to the audience as a live camera was filming them from the side and projecting them on the gauze.
Physical action and projections intersect between each others in a constante choreographic dialogue.
The costumes has been designed and produced by the Meisterschule für Mode München and they developed them ideas on layers, reversibility and exchangeable elements.
Music has been the mayor focus on this project nevertheless I always worked with the idea of father/son relationship.
Mozart 20 is a commissioned piece for the Carl Orff Fest 2019
